That's a good conservative sentiment. I like David Brooks a lot. I would have appreciated him taking a step further, and perhaps addressing what is the best way to ensure the health of these time-tested institutions: preservation or evolution? Is liberalism just a euphemism for nihilism, or is it an attempt to introduce adaptations to our institutions for their own sake?
