Car-Free Challenge 2010

The average American driver drives 250 miles a week. Take the 2010 Car-Free Challenge and see how low you can go: 100 miles? 50? Or maybe even 0!

Register by 11:59pm on May 20 and be entered in a drawing for 2 Landmark Theaters movie passes and a biking/walking gear goody bag.

What's the Car-Free Challenge? It's a weeklong event from June 1-7 where people from California and around the country set and reach a personal low mileage goal.

It raises awareness of the need for better walking, biking,

and public transportation options.

It also raises funds for TransForm, an award-winning nonprofit, to fight for world-class public transportation and walkable communities at the regional, state, and federal levels.

How does the Challenge work? Once you register (your $45 entry fee includes a free t-shirt, coupons, parties, and more), you'll set up your Challenge page. That's where you'll log your miles on foot, bicycle, public transportation, and in a car. You can also post stories and photos from your adventures. And if you get friends and family to sponsor you (which is optional), you'll be eligible for even more prizes!

Tell your story, challenge yourself, inspire others… and challenge our leaders to do more to increase options everywhere for walking, biking, and public transportation.
