Bobbye L. Hudspeth has an interesting comment for the community. Opinions please.

If you use religion as the basis for your political platform and beliefs…

Remember the bloody war fought on American soil because a large portion of the country believed that God was on their side ... as the Bible clearly stated in myriad chapters and verses that slavery was not an evil thing, in fact it was usually met with full approval.

Most Americans today would not vote for slavery based on those verses.

Why should we vote based solely on others?

Via jMG: GOP Voter Dissatisfaction Grows

Pew Research reports:
Amid a bruising primary campaign, Republicans remain unimpressed with their party’s presidential field. In fact, more Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters say the GOP field is only fair or poor (52%) than did so in early January (44%). By comparison, just 46% of Republican voters have positive opinions of the GOP field, according to the latest survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted Jan. 26-29 among 1,006 adults, including 341 Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters.
At this time in 2008, GOP voter satisfaction was 14 points higher.

Via JMG: Newt Sued Over Campaign Song

He's been using Eye Of The Tiger as his entrance music for years, but Survivor has finally gotten around to suing Newt Gingrich.
Rude Music Inc. -- owned by a member of the band Survivor -- filed the suit today in federal court in Illinois ... claiming Newt has jacked the song made famous in "Rocky III" to push his political agenda. According to the lawsuit, Newt has been using the song at various political events since 2009. In the suit, Rude Music claims Gingrich used the song at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2009, 2010 and 2011 ... as well as the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in 2010.

Human emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases have risen so rapidly that they now overwhelm any plausible decrease in solar activity.  Indeed, a paper from last June found that even if the Sun goes into “Hibernation” it won’t stop catastrophic global warming.

But that doesn’t stop serial disinformer David Rose of the UK’s Daily Mail from misleading the public — even after being slammed by top scientists in 2010 for falsely asserting “no global warming since 1995″ — see “Error-riddled articles and false statements destroy Daily Mail’s credibility.“  Rose has another willfully misleading piece, “Forget global warming – it’s Cycle 25 we need to worry about (and if NASA scientists are right the Thames will be freezing over again): Met Office releases new figures which show no warming in 15 years.”

I saw “willfully misleading” because the UK’s Met[eorological] Office, part of its Defence Ministry, has taken the unusual step of releasing a statement utterly debunking Rose’s assertions as “entirely misleading” — and pointing out that they spoke to Rose before the piece came out but he chose to ignore what they had to say.

Climate Progress has debunked the “we’re not warming” myth umpteen times, most recently yesterday when 16 know-nothings with scientific degrees pushed a particularly laughable version of it in Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal of Lies.

Even so, I’m reposting the Met Office debunking because they do a good job, have a great new chart people might like (above), and they repeat a low-ball estimate of warming this century that merits a response:

Today the Mail on Sunday published a story written by David Rose entitled “Forget global warming – it’s Cycle 25 we need to worry about”.
This article includes numerous errors in the reporting of published peer reviewed science undertaken by the Met Office Hadley Centre and for Mr. Rose to suggest that the latest global temperatures available show no warming in the last 15 years is entirely misleading.
Despite the Met Office having spoken to David Rose ahead of the publication of the story, he has chosen to not fully include the answers we gave him to questions around decadal projections produced by the Met Office or his belief that we have seen no warming since 1997.
For clarity I have included our full response to David Rose below:
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “The ten year projection remains groundbreaking science. The complete period for the original projection is not over yet and these projections are regularly updated to take account of the most recent data.
“The projections are probabilistic in nature, and no individual forecast should be taken in isolation. Instead, several decades of data will be needed to assess the robustness of the projections.
“However, what is absolutely clear is that we have continued to see a trend of warming, with the decade of 2000-2009 being clearly the warmest in the instrumental record going back to 1850. Depending on which temperature records you use, 2010 was the warmest year on record  for NOAA NCDC and NASA GISS, and the second warmest on record in HadCRUT3.”
Furthermore despite criticism of a paper published by the Met Office he chose not to ask us to respond to his misconceptions. The study in question, supported by many others, provides an insight into the sensitivity of our climate to changes in the output of the sun.
It confirmed that although solar output is likely to reduce over the next 90 years this will not substantially delay expected increases in global temperatures caused by greenhouse gases. The study found that the expected decrease in solar activity would only most likely cause a reduction in global temperatures of 0.08 °C. This compares to an expected warming of about 2.5 °C over the same period due to greenhouse gases (according to the IPCC’s B2 scenario for greenhouse gas emissions that does not involve efforts to mitigate emissions). In addition the study also showed that if solar output reduced below that seen in the Maunder Minimum – a period between 1645 and 1715 when solar activity was at its lowest observed level – the global temperature reduction would be 0.13C.
Well, yes, technically, the IPCC’s B2 scenario does not include any efforts to mitigate emissions — but then technically none of their scenarios do.  In any case, B2 models a “more ecologically friendly” and “environmentally sustainable” world than many of the other scenarios (or current reality).
In B2, CO2 concentrations in the air don’t even hit 600 ppm.  In fact, we are headed to 1000 ppm.  Indeed, even the IPCC’s Fourth Assessment warns that “Based on current understanding of climate carbon cycle feedback” the level of cumulative CO2 emissions that had been projected to lead to 600 ppm in 2100 would in fact get us to near 1000 ppm — see “Hidden Bombshell in the IPCC Fourth Assessment.”

And the Met Office knows this (see Hadley Center: “Catastrophic” 5-7°C warming by 2100 on current emissions path). Dr. Vicky Pope, head of climate change predictions at the Met Office’s Hadley Centre, wrote in the UK Times in late 2008:
In a worst-case scenario, where no action is taken to check the rise in Greenhouse gas emissions, temperatures would most likely rise by more than 5°C [9°F] by the end of the century.
And they put together this amazing figure:

We’re headed to 5.5°C [10°F] warming by 2100 on our current emissions path — and so even a new Maunder Minimum would have virtually no noticeable impact.

Just How Big Big Big is Wally-Mart?

1.  At Wal-Mart, Americans spend $36,000,000 every hour of every day.

2. This works out to  $20,928 profit every minute!

3.. Wal-Mart  will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's  Day (March 17th) than Target sells all  year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home  Depot + Kroger + Target + Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6  million people and is the largest private  employer,  and most can't speak  English.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest  company in the history of the world.

7.  Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger &  Safeway combined, keep in mind they did this in  only 15 years.

8. During this same  period, 31 Supermarket chains sought  bankruptcy.

9. Wal-Mart now sells  more food than any other store in the  world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900  stores in the USA  of which 1,906 are Super Centers ; this is 1,000  more than it had 5 years ago.

11. This  year, 7.2 billion different purchasing  experiences will occur At a Wal-Mart store.  (Earth's population is approximately  6.5 billion.)

12. 90% of all Americans  live within 15 miles of a Wal-Mart.

13.  The value of product for Wal-Mart passing  through the port of San Diego  each year is a larger sum than 93% of ALL  countries Gross National Product  (GNP)  .....and that is only ONE port .....one way –  that’s how Wal-Mart gets it's stuff.

14.  Of the 1.6  million employees, only 1.2%  make a living above the poverty  level.

15. Wal-Mart's head office is  located and centralized in Bentonville. Due to  this fact, there are more millionaires per  square mile there than any place on  Earth.

16. The official U.S. Government  position is that Wal-Mart's prices are no lower  than anyone else's when compared to a typical  families weekly purchases. That's the view of  the statisticians at the Bureau Of Labor  Statistics (BLS) responsible for calculating the  Consumer
Price Index (CPI).

17.  92% of  everything Wal-Mart sells, comes  from China .  Another 4% comes  fromChinese owned  companies in the U.S. or in  3rd world Countries.

18. Wal-Mart and  MOST large companies, take out life insurance on  it's employees, without their knowing.  If  an employee dies, ALL the insurance moneys go  to the companies. I.e. An employee making  $18,000 per year, dies, and the company might  make as much as $1 million. Most  often  these moneys, coming from what is commonly  referred to as "Dead Peasant Life Insurance Policies", is paid out to executives as bonuses.  (A common practice, unknown by the average  consumer).

19. Wal-Mart now averages a "profit" (not sales) of $36 billion per year.

20.  Let  Wal-Mart bail out Wall Street.  If not, consider shopping someplace  else.
If all the Wal-mart stores close, would China go bankrupt???????

Via JMG: Concerned Women Are Concernstipated About The Military & Global Warming

"Ever the tree-hugger, the commander-in-chief ordered the U.S. Department of Defense to turn its attention from satellite and human intelligence gathering to climate research and development. In other words, he is instructing our brave military men and women to cease defending our borders and fight the new terrorist threat — global warming. In all fairness to the president, maybe his reasoning is that the more trees we have, the more structures we have to hide behind should terrorists attack. Yeah. That’s it. Frankly, I think it’s long past time for us to remind President Obama that he is an elected representative, and not a dictator, before he redefines liberties and democracy and rebuilds an America that is destined to fail." - Penny Nance, writing for the Concerned Women for America.

RELATED: In addition to her douchetastic claim about the military, Nance notes that the president recently mentioned efforts to reduce mercury poisoning among children. Which means this: "But what about the soul-poisoning effects of pedophilia, which proponents are working to normalize by recasting as a mere issue of 'minor attraction'? Apparently, that’s okay."
