Former Bush Donors Now Giving to Obama

FOCUS Former Bush Donors Now Giving to Obama

Greg Gordon writes for McClatchy Newspapers: "Beverly Fanning is among the campaign donors who'll be joining President Bush at a gala at Washington's Ford's Theater Sunday night, but she says that won't dissuade her from her current passion: volunteering for Barack Obama's presidential campaign. She isn't the only convert. A McClatchy computer analysis, incomplete due to the difficulty matching data from various campaign finance reports, found that hundreds of people who gave at least $200 to Bush's 2004 campaign have donated to Obama. Among them are Julie Nixon Eisenhower, the granddaughter of the late GOP president Dwight Eisenhower; Connie Ballmer, the wife of Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer; Ritchie Scaife, the estranged wife of conservative tycoon Richard Mellon Scaife and boxing promoter Don King."

In Palmares...

I am posting a few pics I took here in Palamares as I listen to Dolly Parton and the blast of religeous music ecoing from the Plaza de Torros behind are rather pleasant little hotel (Casa Marta). I am waiting for the rest the folks to arrive to go on to Playa de los Cocos. If you are a Brazilian you know the hilarity behind this sign that in Spanish says "Palmares Buses Only"

Down time before I work tomorrow...

so I went to two museums: the Museu Nacional and the Museu de Arte y Deseño Contemoráneo… there was a very alegre butterfly space in the Nacional and a bunch of stone carvings with mat patterns… then it began to rain, so I headed back to the hotel...

¡Saludos de Costa Rica!

After a rather grueling trip... check in at 1030pm, flight to Houston which left at 12:15am... arrived at BUSH international airport about 530am and waited until 930am for flight... which was good as there were 5 San Jose flights on the departure screen... I realized early on that I was at the gate for the San Jose, CA flight but I needed the San Jose, CR flight (doh!)... not to worry... ambled down to my real gate and hung out there until time... Just a 3.5 hour flight and arrived here @ noonish (a long line at immigration and a taxi to the Aparthotel la Sabana). I decided I would just kick back here by the pool with the free wifi and do some work until dinner with Ale and the gang... as things go here I was greeted by an enormous hummingbird...

My Oscar Niemeyer Collection

I have been fascinated by the works of Brazilian architect Oscar Neimeyer. Yesterday, as I was packing to go to Costa Rica, I was emailed an invitation from some folks organizing and exposition of photos in Milan entitled:

"Arquitetura e Liberdade - Homenagem de Fotógrafos Brasileiros e Italianos a Oscar Niemeyer e Joaquim Cardoso" (Architecture and Liberty- A Homage with Brazilian and Italian Photographs to Oscar Niemeyer and Joaquim Cardoso) At the Latino Americano Expo 18/6 a 18/8 2008 Milan, Itália
I guess I am an artist... or at least a photograher!

Muito obrigado Robson!
