From Buzzflash: Fear, loathing, hate and indecency on the campaign trail

"GOP Faces Drawbacks ..." was how Adam Nagourney's understated headline began, followed by the lede that Republicans' "unified opposition to big Democratic ideas" is proving a magnificent flop.

All that DeMinted humbug about that which "would cripple the Obama presidency"? Oh my. The best-laid plans. How they can screw themselves.

It's true, as the Times' Nagourney noted in explication of the GOP's autoeroticism, that polls have shown an eerie majority to be, at worst, "opposed to," or, at best, "unenthusiastic about" the health care bill (which, by the way, Nagourney's colleague, David Leonhardt, highlights this morning to liberal glee and conservative gloom as also "the federal government’s biggest attack on economic inequality since inequality began rising more than three decades ago").

But that unfavorable national sentiment, as Gallup's recent survey showed, is already substantially morphing.
