THE TIME HAS COME TO “MARCH FORTH ON MARCH FOURTH”

This Thursday, March 4, CFA will join students, educators and other union members for a statewide and national day of action to support public education, school funding and other essential services.

It will be a historic day in which teachers, students and supporters of all segments of public education from pre-K through university will band together for access to quality public education.

The goal of this day is to raise awareness about the crisis in public education and the need to fully fund our schools, colleges and universities. From pre-schools to universities, public education in California is being decimated. K-12 spending continues to shrink; California is now 47th in public spending per pupil. And, the state has repeatedly slashed higher education budgets.

“Faculty and students throughout the state have put months of hard work into planning and organizing these events up and down the state,” said CFA Vice President Kim Geron, a professor of Political Science at CSU East Bay.

Geron continued, “On Thursday we will see the results of their efforts manifested in major mobilizations up and down the state as faculty, students and other education supporters march forth on March fourth.”
