Paul Krugman, Krugman & Co.: "Since when is the International Monetary Fund - whose initials, a joke used to go, stood for 'it's mostly fiscal' - so open-minded? Just before the I.M.F. held a meeting in early March on rethinking macroeconomic policy (I was invited but couldn't make the timing work), Olivier Blanchard, the Fund's chief economist, made it clear that he was open to some serious revision of the prevailing paradigm, which is to focus on interest rates and mostly leave the financial sector alone."
