Via JMG: DNA Spray

A business district in Amsterdam has begun using "DNA spray," an adhesive mist triggered by store clerks, motion detectors, or by remote camera surveillance operators during a robbery or holdup. Chemical markers injected into the mist identify the precise time and location of the incident.
“The procedure is simple: during a holdup a nebula of invisible liquid with a synthetic DNA code is spread in the space. the liquid attaches itself to the clothes and skin of the perpetrator and cannot simply be washed off. DNA-spray is practically invisible to the human eye, but lights up under UV-light. Suspects with traces of DNA-spray are easily traceable to the scene of the crime for the police.”
The above-linked Dutch blogger worries that DNA spray could be used by governments to identify the attendees at political protests.

Obama on Mubarak Resignation: 'Egypt Will Never Be the Same'

Two from Truthout:

Friday 11 February 2011
Michael Winship | An Egyptian Voice of Democracy Says, Tell Old Pharaoh, Go
Michael Winship, Truthout: "'The culture of democracy is still far away.' That's what Egypt's Vice President Omar Suleiman told a group of the country's newspaper editors on Tuesday. It was just two days before President Hosni Mubarak reconfirmed that he had no intention of resigning until September. But on Friday, Mubarak was gone. Suleiman had said the continued demonstrations in Cairo and across the nation were 'disrespectful' of Mubarak and warned of 'the dark bats of the night emerging to terrorize the people,' a threat that sounds more Transylvanian than Egyptian. But the blood of the more than 300 demonstrators who have died in Egypt was all too real."

Mubarak Resigns, Setting Off Wild Celebrations in Egypt
Hannah Allam and Shashank Bengali, McClatchy Newspapers: "Bowing to 18 days of a popular revolt that showed no sign of slowing down, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak resigned Friday and handed over power to the military, an ignominious end to his 30 years of U.S.-backed authoritarian rule. The streets of Cairo erupted with celebratory gunfire, honking car horns and cheers from hundreds of thousands of protesters who'd braved tear gas, rubber bullets, attacks from government-allied thugs and communications disruptions to organize a revolt that was unprecedented in Egypt's modern history."

In April 2005 I first traveled to the town of Visoko, 20 miles northwest from Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina. My attention was caught by two regularly shaped hills, which I later named the Bosnian Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. For thousands of years locals have considered those hills natural phenomenon because they were covered by soil and vegetation. However, when I first saw their triangular faces, obvious corners and orientation toward the cardinal points, I knew that they had to be constructed by a force other than nature.  Since I have been investigating pyramids for decades I knew that pyramids in China, Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador have had the same type of soil and vegetation coverage.
In 2005 I started working on this project and paid construction companies and geologists to do core drilling and geo-morphological analysis. I then announced to the world, in a press conference, that the first pyramids in Europe had been discovered.
Shortly thereafter I established the non-profit Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation and since that time the pyramid investigations in Bosnia have become the world’s largest inter-disciplinary archaeological project. We have spent over 340.000 hours in archaeological excavation, sample testing and radiocarbon dating in the period of 2005 to 2011. We have determined that Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids consists five pyramids discovered to date which I have named: The Bosnian Pyramids of the Sun, Moon, Dragon, Mother Earth and Love. The site also includes a tumulus complex and a huge underground labyrinth.
This discovery is history-changing for several reasons:
  1. These are the first pyramids discovered in Europe
  2. The site includes the biggest pyramidal structure in the world—The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun with its height of over 220 meters is much higher than the Great Pyramid of the Egypt (147 meters).
  3. The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun has the most precise orientation towards the cosmic north of any pyramid.
  4. The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun is completely covered by rectangular concrete blocks. Properties of the concrete, such as extreme hardness and low water absorption, are, according to the scientific institutions in Bosnia, Italy and France, much superior to the modern concrete materials.
  5. The pyramids are covered by soil which is, according to the state Institute for Agro-pedology, over 12,000 years old. This finding confirms the Bosnian pyramids are the oldest pyramids on the planet.
  6. Below the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids is the most-extensive underground tunnel and chamber network which runs for more than ten miles.
  7. Ceramic sculptures have been discovered in underground labyrinth with a mass of up to 20.000 pounds which makes them the largest so far found from the ancient world.

The list of the miracles in Bosnian archaeology does not end here. In the vicinity, we discovered the tallest tumulus in the World – 61 meter high. On the other side, Sillbury Hill in England is 60 meters high. The Bosnian tumulus consists of two-layer megalithic terraces, clay layers and artificial concrete layers.
A team of physicists detected an energy beam coming through the top of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun. The radius of the beam is 4.5 meters with a frequency of 28 kHz.  The beam is continuous and its strength grows as it moves up and away from the top of the pyramid. This phenomenon contradicts our known physical laws and technology. This is the first proof of non-herzian technology on the Planet. It seems that the pyramid-builders created the perpetual mobile a long time ago and this “energy machine” is still working.
In the underground labyrinth we discovered three chambers in 2010 and small blue lake. Energy screening shows that the ionization level is 43 times higher than the average concentration outside which makes the underground chambers healing rooms.
Further electromagnetic detection in 2011 confirmed that levels of negative radiation through the Hartman, Curry and Schneider grids are equal to zero in the tunnels. There was no technical radiation (from power lines and/or technology) found in the tunnels and no cosmic radioactivity. The ceramic sculptures are positioned over the underground water flows and the negative energy is transformed to positive.  All of these experiments point to the underground labyrinth as one of the most secure underground constructions in the world and this makes it an ideal place for body rejuvenation and regeneration.
Two hundred years of Egyptology has not produced a satisfactory answer to the question of what the real purpose was for building the pyramids.
In only six years, our research in Bosnia has applied inter-disciplinary scientific methods, and looked at this complex through the physical, energetic and spiritual dimensions.  We have had pioneering results which affects the science of pyramids.  Our history is changing with each new discovery.
Perhaps by changing our beginnings we can change our present and our future for the better.

Among the exhibitors at CPAC this year is group called Youth For Western Civilization. Their mission statement:
We have the self-evident right and duty to work for the survival of our own culture and civilization. There is no reason to believe that the advances of modernity and the political freedoms we enjoy will endure with the extinction of the civilization that allowed them to exist. Western Civilization is our civilization and in spite of the continual assault and hatred it endures from the radical left, we wish to revive the West, rather than see our civilization be sent to the graveyard of history.
Diversity is communism, according to the YWC.

Mubarak Refuses to Step Down
Anthony Shadid and David D. Kirpatrick, The New York Times News Service: "President Hosni Mubarak told the Egyptian people Thursday that he would delegate more authority to his vice president, Omar Suleiman, but that he would not resign his post, contradicting earlier reports that he would step aside and surprising hundreds of thousands of demonstrators gathered to hail his departure from the political scene. In a nationally televised address following a tumultuous day of political rumors and conflicting reports, Mr. Mubarak said he would 'admit mistakes' and honor the sacrifices of young people killed in the three-week uprising, but that he would continue to 'shoulder my responsibilities' until September, and did not give a firm indication that he would cede political power."

Egypt Protests: Watch for the Demands
Robert Naiman, Truthout: "Four key demands have been constantly lifted up by protesters and opposition parties, which are essential for a credible transition to democracy: ending the arbitrary detention and harassment of journalists, human rights activists and peaceful demonstrators and freeing those who have been detained; ending the state of emergency; allowing free electoral competition in elections; and restoring full judicial supervision of elections.... Without these reforms, any 'orderly transition' in Egypt is likely to be a transition not to democracy, but a transition to dictatorship under a different face."

Via JMG: Mississippi Considers License Plate Honoring Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard

Mississippi is considering issuing a license plate honoring one of the founding Grand Wizards of the Ku Klux Klan. SRSLY.
Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, notorious for leading a massacre of black Union soldiers and leading the KKK in its early days, would appear on the plates in 2014 if the group Sons of Confederate Veterans gets its way. The organization is sponsoring a series of specialty plates over the next four years to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. This year's plate features the last home of Confederate president Jefferson Davis. The state's chapter of the NAACP strongly criticized the call to honor Forrest, who led several battles in Mississippi during the war. "He should be viewed in the same light that we view Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden," Derrick Johnson, the president of the NAACP in Mississippi, told The Associated Press, adding that the Klan was a "terrorist group."

Via JMG: American Family Association Scrubs Bryan Fischer's Rant On Native Americans

On Tuesday, American Family Association radio host Bryan Fischer announced that Native Americans were "morally disqualified from sovereign control of American soil" because they had rejected attempts to convert them to Christianity. That may have finally been just a little too extreme for Fischer's bosses at the AFA. Right Wing Watch reports:
The Native American Rights Fund said Fischer’s comments are “not worth dignifying with a reply,” and AFA blogger Elijah Friedeman called Fischer’s views “repulsive.” It appears that the AFA is now expunging Fischer’s vicious article on Native Americans, along with Freideman’s denunciation - they have even removed his column from Renew America where it was also posted. Fischer’s original article has been removed from the AFA’s Focal Point blog (while leaving his radio commentary on YouTube); similarly, Friedeman’s reaction was taken down from the AFA’s website and is no longer listed on his blog either.
Still remaining is Fischer's column calling for Muslims to be banned from the military, his column describing gay activists as domestic terrorists, his column demanding an overturn of our democracy in favor of Biblical law, his column calling for the abolishing of high school, and his column recommending that homosexuals be rounded up and put in concentration camps. The American Family Association is perfectly OK with all of that.

Being Baha'i In Iran: Where Friendship is Illegal

Imagine a country where it is not only illegal for some human beings to be friends with each other because of their religions, but where even their cows were once banned from grazing together in the same field.

In recent months, in Rafsanjan, Iran, a wave of arson attacks was unleashed against Iranian Baha'is for making "friends" with Muslims. After more than a dozen Baha'i-owned shops were burned, a warning letter arrived at Baha'i homes and businesses demanding that the Baha'is "refrain from forming contacts or friendships with Muslims." This follows arson attacks last year against Baha'i homes in Ivel, Iran -- the same village where a decree was once passed forbidding Baha'i- and Muslim-owned cows from grazing together.

Via Truthout: Can We Please Stop Blaming Immigrants?

Robert Pollin, Political Economy Research Institute: "All kinds of people are justifiably enraged and frightened by the dismal economy. Some have concluded that immigrants are taking away the jobs that they themselves need. The logic seems straightforward. Let's assume that, at any given time, there are a fixed number of jobs available. If immigrants take a significant share of the available jobs at low wages, that will mean fewer jobs are available for U.S. natives. The increased competition for the given number of jobs will also weaken workers' bargaining power, and thus drive wages down. But does this simple logic accurately describe what is really happening out in the world?"
