Recently my husband was in a conversation with a relative. He asked him why he voted for Romney and all he could come up with is FOX news sound bites. "I don't want US to be a socialist nation!" he exclaimed. So, you don't want roads and bridges and police and firemen? You don't want public schools or military? You don't want your mother to have social security or medicare, right? "Well, no." So what is your ideology that is in alignment with the Republicans, he was asked. This relative is into yoga. He could come up with nothing. Finally he admitted that he voted AGAINST Obama, he did not VOTE for anything he was actually for. My husband asked: Why? because he is black? His relative said "I'm not a bigot! I like black people!" Which ones? My husband asked. He could only site people he felt superior to. OK, my husband said, you like black people as long as they are not leaders, in charge of anything, as long as you can have more power than them, right? That is a bigot! His relative broke down and cried. The truth is that 65% of all people who claim to be Republicans when given the choice of principles or ideologies between the parties will always choose the Democratic philosophy. They just can't wrap their heads around VOTING for a black guy. Next up folks, VOTING for a woman! Yes, after years of attempting to keep racism and misogyny as your primary motivation, the gig is up, transformation is at hand, critical mass has occurred, 52% of the country bases their decisions on LOVE, not fear, loathing and bigotry. 52% of the country wants to lift and help people who cannot help themselves, 52% of the country wants the best education for our children, 52% of the country does not want the feed the war profiteers any longer, 52% of the country does not give a rat's a$$ if our President is black or female or gay. 52% of the country sees the GOP is holding our growth and progress hostage and 52% of the country are going to VOTE every single GOP candidate OUT in 2014!!!!
