***** THURSDAY PROGRESS REPORT *****

THHHHH… so today was going to be my last fisoterapia, but they whatsapp’d me and said Lorena wasn’t coming in today. Meh…

So I rather think I'm done... finished, fim, done, finalizado with physio!

So, I did some thinking, or as my dad would say, “I thought I smelled wood burning”.

Today I had planned to do a test drive to UFOP. To see how many diapers, how to deal with it, and how my energy goes, etc. Plus, there was planned a festa in the department with the master´s students.

So in the morning, I did my exercises Lorena taught me yesterday and some yoga moves and Kegels (see videos I posted yesterday). While I was yoga-kegeling I got to thinking about how there was a little water in the one bathroom, (dribbling seems to be a theme here these days for some reason) and if so there might be shower potential. So, feeling crazy, I took a shower. The water has been off for our side of the street for two days and the tank is empty, but there was just a smidge left, so I made it quick.

Then after lunch came, I headed out.

Trash in hand, dumped it in the neighborhood trash box, and got the bus to the rodoviária, then walked to the praça and down into Antônio Dias to Dr. Wagner’s office to snag a PSA test request and make a consult for next week.

When I descended from the praça the church and praçinha was all decked out in flags, for Festa Junina. Kinda reminded me of Kathmandu.

Got my PSA test doc and reservation at Wagner’s and walked down to the Barra, to get the bus up to UFOP. And who was sitting there waiting for a bus as well?

Our dear Cleonice! Who survived a few weeks intubated during COVID, and is ok now, just slower and needs getting checked, as she is probably one of the long termed ones. She got it right at the start, when no one knew what was happening, before  the vax´s, she cleaned for us for years, and spent the rest of the time working in the Igreja São Francisco.

Igreja São Francisco

So we talked a bit, and the bus came, and she held my backpack (I decided not to sit, as when I get up, I need a diaper change). It was fun. And one of the reasons I like mass transit here, you always run into someone you know.

And so spent time in the office, recharging my batteries  for the department end of semester shindig. I did some work and even did more kegels. So much fun to be back.

Energy seemed ok, I climbed a buncha stairs to get out the building (no one in their right mind would use the little elevators anyway, that is if they worked, and they don't). Plus, my app that counts steps likes it when I do stairs...  M demanded that we call a taxi, the driver came, he had a heater going as at night here now it's truly butt freezing.

Ahhhh... so good!

Got home and the water was coming back on!

I had such a great time, I might go back again tomorrow, as I need to practice, where to change my tighty-didies and dispose of them discreetly. Tho I am on licença medica until the 12th of July, practice makes perfect, and well keeps me "fresh, dry and confident".

Every day a little bit better!

Dan,

Your pics show you looking a tad older then I remember you. The grin you show hasn't changed any from your days at CSUS, though. Spent a couple of days with son Bob this week. He sends his greetings to you . He came down from Eugene to pick up his daughter, who just finished her second year at Cal Poly, SLO.
Bob and his wife Jen, are off, hiking in Italy, as part of their 25th year wedding anniversary. Time seems to be picking up pace.

Hang in there physically and enjoy everything.
