Sept. 29 Student Day of Protest

TOMORROW: Sept. 29 Student Day of Protest

TOMORROW: Sept. 29 Student Day of Protest
Students Are Fighting Back
Join Us to Resist Budget Cuts & Tuition Hikes!

Last week, thousands of students across the state protested tuition hikes and budget cuts. A mock funeral in Long Beach in front of the Cal State University Board of Trustees meeting dramatized the affect of cuts on students and faculty. The next day, 700 UCLA students and faculty walked out of classes, along with thousands at UC Berkley, hundreds at UC Riverside, UC Irvine and elsewhere.

Students Fight Back participated in all of these actions. At UCLA, Students Fight Back organizers helped lead the occupation of the chancellor's office to demand a meeting on cutbacks (see photo below). After nearly an hour, the chancellor was forced to agree to the students' demand.

The next major actions will be tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 12 noon at campuses across Southern California. There will be protests at Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton, UCLA, Los Angeles City College, Cerritos College and elsewhere. Link to join Students Fight Back.
